PROMOTION OF NON-VIOLENCE AND NETWORK OF QUEBEC INDIGENOUS SHELTERS COORDINATOR
Job description
In keeping with the mission and values of QNW, the coordinator is responsible for supporting the
Network of Indigenous Shelters in Quebec by sharing expertise, creating adapted intervention tools and
organizing annual meetings with the directors and workers at the shelters. In addition, she is responsible for
implementing various family violence prevention measures in an Indigenous context. She ensures the
implementation of the strategic plan for the promotion of non-violence.
Plan and organize activities or events to achieve the objectives of the project on non-violence and the
Network of Indigenous Shelters in Quebec; – Attend and represent FAQs at various seminars, committees, round tables, workshops on non-violence and
the Network of Indigenous Shelters in Quebec; – Act as a resource person for Indigenous women to address their questions and needs regarding violence and
shelters and create projects and tools to meet their needs; – Create and offer awareness workshops on the prevention of family and domestic violence with various
partners in the community; – Support the QNW Chair by preparing files and briefing notes, as needed; – Mobilize and maintain relationships with various partners to advance the objectives of the non-violence
project and the Network of Indigenous Shelters in Quebec; – Remain abreast of research and resources available to women in terms of services and resources in domestic
and family violence; – Co-develop and facilitate training to prevent violence in collaboration with the health and measure M
coordinators for workers in Indigenous communities; – Collaborate with the QNW team by contributing to team meetings, the AGM and the various communication
and promotional tools; – Perform any related tasks, as required by the organization.
Required experience and qualifications
College or university degree in the field of social work or 3 years of relevant experience in the field of social
work may be considered; – Knowledge of the main issues related to domestic and family violence and Indigenous women in Quebec; – Fluency in French and English, both oral and written, for the writing of reports, designing and facilitating
workshops; – Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software; – Ability to travel throughout Quebec for in-person meetings and events.
Assets:
Project management; – Lived experience in an Indigenous community; – Knowledge of an indigenous language.
SALARY : class 3 : from $47,275 to $66,798 annually.
POSITION STATUS AND LENGTH OF REGULAR WORK WEEK: full-time, determined; 32 hours per week.
