🎯 Description:
The Lead Civil Draftsperson plays a key technical and leadership role in delivering municipal infrastructure projects. The incumbent is responsible for producing high‑quality 2D/3D drawings, developing and maintaining drafting standards, and optimizing Civil 3D workflows across the Infrastructure Division.
✅ Responsibilities
- Produce, revise, and update 2D drawings and 3D models for municipal infrastructure using AutoCAD Civil 3D and ArcGIS.
- Develop technical drawings compliant with municipal, BNQ, and MTQ standards.
- Oversee drawing organization, CAD file management, drafting standards, and CAD template standardization.
- Generate existing and proposed surfaces from survey data to model slopes and earthwork.
- Draft road alignments, profiles, and cross‑sections for roadway, water, sewer, and storm drainage projects.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to resolve design issues and meet production schedules.
- Prepare drainage plans, ditching plans, and assist in tender and construction document preparation.
- Review survey data, field notes, design sketches, and engineering inputs for accuracy.
- Assist engineers with preliminary project cost estimates.
- Prepare as‑built drawings and maintain accurate infrastructure records.
- Support design revisions and field markups in collaboration with inspection and construction teams.
- Visit construction sites to gather measurements or validate information.
- Perform other related duties as required.

- Full‑time position, five‑day workweek, office‑based with occasional site visits.
- May require occasional work outside standard hours to meet project deadlines.
- Fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Moderate stress associated with project schedules.
💰 Salary
$58,227.00 – $78,604.50 per year (37.5 hours/week)
Required experience and qualifications
⭐ Qualifications
Education & Experience
- College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field.
- 3–8 years of experience in municipal or civil infrastructure drafting.
- Proven experience developing CAD standards, templates, and workflows.
- Strong experience with Civil 3D for pipe slopes, drainage, and roadway design.
- Experience integrating survey data and producing construction‑ready drawings.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (required).
- Familiarity with ArcGIS and AutoTURN (asset).
- Strong understanding of municipal infrastructure design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret survey plans and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of BNQ, MTQ, and CCDG standards (asset).
- Strong leadership, initiative, and problem‑solving capabilities.
- High attention to detail and quality control.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Fluency in English; French and Kanien’kéha are considered assets.
- Valid Quebec Class 5 driver’s license.
- Valid ASP Construction card.
- Professionalism, discretion, confidentiality, and respectful client interaction.
- Willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language.
