Job description

The person holding this position must act as a bridge between the population, the RRSSSN and the two health and social services establishments in order to support the process of cultural security of the entire network in concerted action. This person supports research on the user perspective and the evaluation of the health system and contributes to the development of solutions related to the issues raised in this research.

More specifically, the officer must:

 Guide practices so that they make sense in Inuit culture
 Attend MSSS meetings as responsible for indigenous files
 Assist the planning-programming agent from the user perspective and cultural security in setting up the advisory committee for the three Boards of Directors on cultural security:
 Recruit members of the advisory committee according to the proposed plan;
 Help plan meetings of the advisory committee;
 Follow up on the work of the Advisory Committee (ensure that the concerns raised by the population in the report on the users’ perspective are addressed throughout the network);
 Create the link with Nuka system of care (alaska) to help the advisory committee establish recommendations to the three BODs;
 Present the work of the advisory committee to the boards of directors of the three establishments;
 Ensure communication between the three establishments regarding their actions for cultural security;
 Participate in providing training on partnership between users and their loved ones;
 Advise the various departments and external collaborators; concerning the cultural security of their projects;
 Participate in the development of clinical plans for the region.

Required experience and qualifications

Undergraduate university degree in administration or another appropriate university discipline, however a combination of relevant training and experience may be considered;
Minimum experience of one year in a similar position;
Training or experience in cultural safety is an asset
Knowledge of the legal framework applicable to the health and social services network is an asset;
Excellent written and oral skills in French and English; good knowledge of oral and written Inuktitut will be considered a major asset;

Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec agreement will have priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Temporary, full-time position (35 hours/week) of one year with possibility of extension;
• Position based in Kuujjuaq or in telework position with travel to Nunavik;
• Salary according to the rules set forth by the MSSS (27,08$/h to 47,98$/h).

Northern benefits: retention bonus ($6,000/year), remoteness ($10,627/year) and cost of living ($3,085/year) and, if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, accommodation provided to low cost, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, annual personal outings from Kuujjuaq to point of employment provided, etc.
