Child and Family Services Advisor

Job description

35 hours per week (50% mandatory at the office and 50% teleworking)

The Child and Family Services Advisor must:
Support and assist First Nations communities and organizations in the area of child and family services, in accordance with applicable jurisdictions and applicable frameworks, while contributing to the development of practitioners in this field. More specifically, you will:

• Act as a resource person for First Nations and partners.
• Support First Nations in the development, implementation and monitoring of culturally safe activities and initiatives.
• Collaborate in identifying training and support needs as well as in developing and adapting materials to develop and build the skills of workers.
• Develop effective information and awareness tools to increase the autonomy of First Nations and see to their production and dissemination.
• Draft reports, analyses and any other documents deemed relevant.
• Offer training, information and awareness sessions.
• Develop and maintain a network of contacts with First Nations organizations and partners and support the development of strategic partnerships.
• Carry out monitoring activities to enrich their expertise and make recommendations.
• Coordinate, facilitate and participate in meetings.

Required experience and qualifications

Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychoeducation or any other relevant field.
• Three to five years of relevant experience in child and family services.
• Knowledge of the Quebec health and social services network programs as well as First Nations programs relating to child and family services and youth protection.
• Knowledge and understanding of First Nations cultures.
• Knowledge of An Act respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis children, youth and families is an asset.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Excellent command of French and English (written and spoken).
• Willing to travel to First Nations communities in Quebec.
• A valid driver’s licence.

Salary
The gross annual salary is between $58,786.00 and $72,399.60 and varies according to the candidate’s experience.
