Université Laval’s Department of Biology in the Faculty of Science and Engineering invites applications for a prestigious Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Cold Ecosystem Conservation. This initiative is part of Canada’s strategy to attract top global researchers in key areas of science, technology, and innovation.

The selected candidate will lead groundbreaking research aimed at understanding how cold ecosystems function and respond to rapid environmental change, while developing adaptive conservation strategies and informing environmental policies.

✅ Responsibilities:

Lead high-impact interdisciplinary research integrating ecological and climate sciences.
Predict ecosystem responses in cold regions to environmental change.
Develop science-based, adaptive conservation strategies.
Collaborate with existing research clusters in cold region ecology.
Contribute to training the next generation of scientists.
Promote a dynamic, collaborative research environment within Université Laval.

💰 Salary: Competitive salary with a chair premium (up to 30%)

📅 Duration: 8 years of CERC funding (totaling $8M, including salary)
