Wellness Advisor – Addiction and Violence Prevention Component
Job description
*12-month contract
**35 hours per week (50% at the office and 50% teleworking)
The Wellness Advisor must:
• Support First Nations communities and organizations in the development and implementation of culturally appropriate activities, initiatives and projects related to addiction prevention and ensure the necessary follow-up.
• Act as a resource person in matters of addiction prevention among First Nations communities and organizations as well as among partners.
• Support communities in the management of wellness projects (identifying needs, planning, implementation, follow-up, evaluation, etc.).
• Contribute to the development of the skills of workers by offering them training and support based on their needs and by collaborating in the development and adaptation of information and awareness materials and tools.
• Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of regional strategic plans and the development and implementation of local action plans.
• Participate in the development and implementation of various government action plans.
• Support the implementation of the First Nations mental wellness continuum.
• Write various reports and documents according to the requirements of the projects and activities.
• Ensure monitoring activities focused on wellness to enrich their expertise and issue recommendations.
• Establish and maintain a network of contacts with First Nations organizations and partners and the various counterparts of the levels of government.
• Coordinate, facilitate and participate in various meetings.
Required experience and qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in social work or in another discipline deemed relevant.
• Three years of relevant experience in addiction or violence prevention.
• Experience in project management.
• Knowledge of programs offered by the Quebec health and social services network in addition to existing programs offered by First Nations communities and organizations.
• Knowledge and understanding of First Nations cultures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Excellent command of French and English (written and spoken).
• Willing to travel throughout Quebec to First Nations communities.
• A valid driver’s license.

Salary
The gross annual salary is between $57,639.40 and $70,980.00 and varies according to the candidate’s experience.
