Duration: Fixed-Term, Full-Time – 8 weeks (June 23 – August 15, 2025)
Status: Summer Student Employment – KSSEP Program
Salary: $17.00/hour (KSSEP High School Level B)
Schedule: Evenings and weekends based on Minor Sports and Events Schedule
Hours/Week: 37.5 hours

Job Summary
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is seeking motivated and responsible students to join the Sports and Recreation team as Snack Bar Workers at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in customer service, food handling, and teamwork in a fast-paced recreational environment.
As a Snack Bar Worker, you’ll be responsible for serving customers, preparing short-order meals, and ensuring a clean, friendly, and sanitary concession area during sporting events and community programs.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Cash Handling
Operate the cash register (Rec Trac system) and handle customer transactions
Take and transmit food and beverage orders
Serve prepared food and beverages to customers
Maintain accurate cash logs and report discrepancies
Food Preparation and Cooking
Prepare and cook food using grill, stove, microwave, fryer, and steamer
Assemble sandwiches and other menu items following safety and hygiene protocols
Maintain proper food-handling procedures
General Kitchen Support
Restock supplies, refill machines (coffee, slush), and maintain cleanliness
Clean kitchen appliances (grill, fryer, steamer)
Sweep, mop, sanitize surfaces, wash dishes, and prepare for next shift
Ensure a safe, sanitary, and welcoming kitchen environment
Team Support
Assist other members of the Sports and Recreation Unit as needed
Contribute to a respectful and collaborative work culture
Perform related duties as directed by the immediate supervisor
Required experience and qualifications
Qualifications
Must be registered with Tewatohnhi’saktha KSSEP 2025 Program
Must be a student currently enrolled in high school or a post-secondary institution and returning in fall 2025
High school diploma preferred, with one (1) year of relevant experience (customer service or food service)
Skills & Assets
Strong customer service and communication skills
Basic math skills for handling transactions
Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment
Understanding of food preparation techniques and hygiene standards
Team-oriented, courteous, and able to maintain confidentiality
Familiarity with Kanien’kéha and/or French is an asset
Willingness to learn Kanien’kéha is encouraged
Work Environment
Indoor concession area at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex
Evening and weekend shifts required based on the sports event calendar
Occasional overtime may be required
Regular physical activity (standing, walking, lifting 10–20 lbs)
Moderate stress and exposure to hot kitchen equipment
