📌 Title: Pedagogical Consultant – Special Education (Second Languages)
📍 Location: Kuujjuaq, Nunavik (Québec)
🎯 Description:
Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is seeking a full-time Pedagogical Consultant in Special Education – Second Languages for a replacement contract from August 2025 to June 2026. The position is based in Kuujjuaq and involves regular travel to schools across Nunavik.
✅ Responsibilities:
Evaluate and diagnose students suspected of having learning, behavioral, or emotional difficulties; write individual reports with recommendations.
Collaborate with school staff to develop support plans and services, including identifying students with severe disabilities.
Provide recommendations for allocating special education technicians.
Support students with special needs placed in southern schools.
Liaise with health and social services when needed.
Train and support special education teachers, especially regarding the RTI (Response to Intervention) approach.
Assist each special education teacher and ensure student support schedules are in place.
Provide assistance and training to special education technicians.
Conduct early screenings in kindergarten (including cases with exemptions).
Develop culturally relevant assessment tools and adapted learning materials.
Organize travel and services according to the needs of the special education department.
Guide teachers in the referral process, development of individualized intervention plans (IIPs), and setup of special education committees.
Plan and deliver remote support and training on specific topics for special education teachers.
Participate in assessments and make recommendations, especially for school modification requests.
💰 Salary: $49,456 to $92,027 annually, based on experience and qualifications (SPPENOM agreement)

Required experience and qualifications
⭐ Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Special Education.
At least 5 years of teaching experience with students with special needs.
Proficiency in at least two of the three working languages of the school board (Inuktitut, French, English).
Familiarity with assessment tools in both English and French.
Availability for frequent travel throughout Nunavik.
Note: Beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA) may be considered even if they do not meet all qualifications, provided they agree to follow a training program determined by the school board.
