The Life Skills Program Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and facilitating a structured life skills program to support Indigenous community members experiencing homelessness. This program aims to provide essential skills for transitioning to independent living, covering topics such as financial management, job readiness, housing maintenance, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Development & Facilitation:

  • Design and lead workshops on key topics: financial management, job readiness, housing management, and personal development.
  • Coordinate guest trainers and speakers.
  • Develop outreach strategies and promote the program to potential participants.

Participant Support:

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to help participants apply acquired skills.
  • Build partnerships with employment agencies, housing services, and other community resources.

Administration & Logistics:

  • Track participant attendance and progress.
  • Oversee logistical aspects of the program (transportation, materials, venues).

Ongoing Evaluation:

  • Gather participant feedback, assess program outcomes, and make improvements as needed.

Required experience and qualifications

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures and reconciliation principles.
  • Experience working with people facing homelessness, including challenges related to mental health and addiction.
  • Program management and group facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in French and English (knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset).

Education & Training:

  • Degree in social work, education, community development, or a relevant field.
  • Crisis intervention training (OMEGA or equivalent) is an asset.
  • Valid CPR certification.

Other Information:

  • This position is on-site at PAQ in downtown Montreal, with frequent travel between PAQ sites.
  • Availability for weekday shifts (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM).
  • Availability for flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
