Program Objective – 5720: Heavy Equipment Operation
The goal is to train students to:
• Operate heavy machinery such as bulldozers, graders, loaders, backhoes, excavators, and compactors
• Build and maintain roads and other infrastructure
• Perform excavation work, load trucks, and level large surfaces
• Acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required for safe and effective job performance
Required experience and qualifications
Candidate Profile
Required Qualifications:
• Relevant training in the field
• A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in heavy equipment operation
• Valid qualification card
Note: The School Board may, at its discretion, waive the above qualifications if the applicant is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and agrees to follow a training program established by the Board.
Requirements:
• Fluency in at least two of the three languages used by the school board: Inuktitut, English, and French
• Experience working with multi-level classes
Assets:
• Teaching permit or license from Quebec or another Canadian province
• Familiarity with MEQ (Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec) programs
• Experience teaching English and/or French as a second language
Working Conditions & Benefits
📊 Classification and Salary:
In accordance with the collective agreement for KI teachers:
• Annual salary between $46,527 and $92,027, based on experience and qualifications
• Benefits are calculated in proportion to the workload
