Job description

🎯 Description:

The Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission (KGC) is seeking a Compliance Officer – Audit Specialist to support its oversight of licensed online gaming, Electronic Gaming Devices (EGDs), poker operations, and dispute resolution services. This key role ensures operators comply with the Commission’s laws, regulations, and internal control standards.


✅ Responsibilities:

🔍 Compliance & Oversight:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance of all permit, authorization, and license holders

  • Review and screen applications for completeness and accuracy

  • Maintain and update client files; liaise with applicants and licensees

  • Work with approved agents to supervise and guide investigative operations

  • Identify compliance issues and recommend regulatory improvements

  • Track fee payments in accordance with policies and procedures

🧾 Dispute Resolution:

  • Manage and resolve complaints related to licensed gaming operations

  • Clear existing backlog and create a dispute management system

  • Provide effective dispute resolution services on behalf of the Commission

🛠 Inspections & Audits:

  • Conduct field inspections at poker rooms and EGD facilities

  • Review internal control methods to ensure accuracy and asset protection

  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to the Commission

  • Manage day-to-day operational requests from land-based gaming facilities

  • Conduct surveillance and compliance inspections

  • Perform financial, operational, and compliance audits

  • Conduct AML program reviews and risk assessments

📊 Administrative & Technical Support:

  • Analyze and monitor operator revenue

  • Maintain complete, well-organized audit records

  • Assist with the preparation of official Commission reports

  • Support internal documentation and project planning

💰 Salary: Based on experience

🕒 Work Conditions:

  • 5-day workweek (office + on-site inspections)

  • Moderate stress from workload and deadlines

  • Occasional evening/weekend work

  • Moderate travel required

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Qualifications:

Education & Experience (choose one of the following):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management or related field + 1 year of experience in gaming, regulatory enforcement, or auditing

  • OR DEC in Information Technology or related field + 3 years’ relevant experience in the gaming industry

  • OR High School diploma + 5 years of relevant experience (gaming, law enforcement, or security preferred)

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of the Kahnawà:ke Gaming Law and KGC regulations

  • Deep understanding of gaming operations and regulatory frameworks

  • Knowledge of business structures and internal controls

  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities

  • Effective written and oral communication skills

  • Excellent planning, multitasking, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, OneDrive)

  • Valid Quebec Driver’s License

  • Knowledge of Kanien’kéha and French is an asset

  • Willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language
