🎯 Job Description:

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, a school board offering educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik, is currently seeking two full-time seasonal Class I Cooks to manage kitchen operations at the Kajusivik Residence in Kuujjuaq. Reporting to the Residence Manager, the cook is responsible for preparing meals for staff and students and overseeing the entire food service operation.

✅ Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals and cook food for residents and staff.

  • Manage kitchen budget, pricing, and food supply.

  • Create balanced menus in accordance with nutritional standards.

  • Monitor food distribution and maintain inventory of supplies and food.

  • Ensure proper stock rotation to avoid meal repetition.

  • Receive and inspect food deliveries and manage stock levels.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

⏰ Work Schedule:

  • 38.75 hours per week

  • Start Date: August 2025

💰 Salary & Benefits:

  • Hourly Wage: $27.58 (as per the AENQ support staff collective agreement – job category 5311)

  • Benefits are prorated according to workload

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma of Vocational Studies in Institutional Cooking or equivalent recognized qualification.

  • Valid MAPAQ food handling certificate.

Note: The school board reserves the right to waive the above qualifications if a candidate is a recognized beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and agrees to complete a training program set by the board.

🗣 Language Requirements:

  • Proficiency in at least two (2) of the school board’s three (3) working languages: Inuktitut, French, or English.

  • Basic computer skills (word processing and spreadsheets).
