Job description
Status: Full-time Permanent Position
Probation Period: Six (6) months
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (37.5 hours/week)
Salary: $966.75 to $1,125.75 per week

Position Summary
The Caseworker is responsible for providing individualized support to people and families who require financial or social assistance. Reporting to the General Manager of the Social Assistance Program, the Caseworker assesses eligibility, develops support plans, coordinates access to community resources, and ensures compliance with all applicable policies. This key role contributes to fostering autonomy among clients with professionalism, respect, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
Client Assessment and Support
Conduct interviews, assess financial and personal needs, and determine eligibility for assistance.
Develop and follow up on personalized support plans with educational or employment goals.
Refer clients to appropriate medical, community, or governmental resources.
Collaborate with federal, provincial, and local partners to resolve complex cases.
Administrative and Compliance Tasks
Review documentation and update both physical and digital case files.
Process monthly payments, re-evaluations, suspensions, or terminations.
Prepare financial reports and statistics on program activities and client progress.
Participate in appeal hearings and represent the program during administrative reviews.
Community Outreach and Program Development
Work with local organizations (Tewatonhnhi’sáktha, Kahnawà:ke Community Services, Peacekeepers, etc.) to provide comprehensive support.
Contribute to developing new projects in employment, education, or training.
Help organize workshops, personal development programs, and incentive measures.
Required experience and qualifications
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
DEC in Social Work, Social Sciences, or related field with 1 year of relevant experience;
ORDEP in Secretarial Studies with 3 years of experience;
ORHigh school diploma with 5 years of relevant experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
Familiarity with social assistance policies (local or provincial).
Understanding of social issues in Kahnawà:ke and the Montreal region.
Proficient with Microsoft Office, databases, and digital case management.
Strong written and verbal communication, analytical thinking, discretion, and empathy.
Asset: Knowledge of Kanien’kéha or French, or willingness to learn.
