Job Description:
Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is a school board providing educational services in the 14 communities of Nunavik. Under the supervision of the Director of Financial Resources, the Assistant Director will be responsible for coordinating several financial operations, including budget management, accounting, treasury, financial reporting, and internal controls.
This key role supports the financial operations of the school board, advises administrative personnel, develops management tools, and ensures sound financial governance.
Main Responsibilities:
Participate in the development of financial objectives and strategies.
Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies, systems, and procedures.
Coordinate the preparation of financial statements and budget forecasts.
Supervise accounting and financial operations across all administrative units.
Ensure the school board receives the maximum eligible revenue from ministries and other funding agencies.
Contribute to the development of decentralization mechanisms related to financial management.
Support administrators by providing relevant financial information.
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate the staff under their responsibility.
Assist the Director and other service or school administrators on finance-related matters.
Required experience and qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (minimum 3 years of university-level study).
At least 6 years of relevant work experience.
The school board may waive the above qualifications if the applicant is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and agrees to follow a training program defined by the board.
Specific Requirements:
Fluency in at least two of the school board’s three official working languages: Inuktitut, French, and English.
Knowledge of Nunavik and Inuit culture (an asset).
Strong organizational and leadership skills.
Initiative and ability to work collaboratively.
Ability to contribute to workforce planning and budget distribution.
Salary and Benefits:
Class 10 – Between $101,705 and $135,602 annually, depending on qualifications and experience.
