Job description

🎯 Program Objectives:

Equip students with the skills and knowledge required to manage small storage facilities, maintain tools and electrical devices, plumbing and heating systems, and carry out maintenance work on internal and external building components.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teach practical skills related to carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, electricity, and painting

  • Help students develop the competencies necessary for maintaining northern buildings

  • Assess student progress and support them throughout their training

📅 Employment Details:

  • Status: Contractual

  • Duration: August to December 2025

  • Hours: 400 hours

  • Possibility of renewal

💰 Salary & Benefits:

  • Annual salary: Between $46,527 and $92,027, based on qualifications and experience

  • Benefits prorated based on actual workload

Required experience and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • A vocational diploma or training in a building-related trade (e.g., plumbing, electricity, carpentry), or

  • An equivalent degree or certificate recognized by a competent authority and at least four (4) years of relevant experience

Note: The School Board may waive the listed qualifications if the candidate is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and agrees to undertake a training program determined by the Board.

🛠️ Job Requirements:

  • Practical knowledge in:

    • Carpentry

    • Electrical systems

    • Plumbing

    • Painting

    • General mechanical maintenance

  • Experience with heating and ventilation systems is a strong asset

  • Functional knowledge of at least two of the Board’s three working languages: Inuktitut, French, English
