🎯 Job Overview:
Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, the school board serving the 14 communities of Nunavik, is seeking a Pedagogical Counsellor to support postsecondary Inuit students studying at John Abbott College. The role involves advising students, developing support strategies, and fostering their academic success in collaboration with partners.
✅ Key Responsibilities:
Meet with postsecondary stakeholders (students, employers, educators) to identify needs and recommend improvements
Identify and implement academic support strategies for students with learning difficulties
Assist students in finding financial aid opportunities
Work with schools and partner organizations to support Inuit postsecondary education
Offer feedback and policy recommendations to students, SEP staff, and partner institutions
Conduct regular student follow-ups and adapt strategies as needed
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director of Postsecondary Student Services
💰 Salary & Benefits:
Salary range: $49,456 to $92,027 annually (based on qualifications and experience)
Classification: Job category 2104 (as per SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals)

Required experience and qualifications
⭐ Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field
The school board may waive these requirements if the candidate is a beneficiary of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement and agrees to follow a training program set by the board
🔎 Requirements:
Fluent in English (spoken and written), working knowledge of Inuktitut or French
Willingness to travel to Nunavik
Ability to work independently and coordinate with various organizations
Availability to work evenings or weekends occasionally
