Salary: $1,232.25 to $1,392.00 per week
Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Weekly Hours: 37.5

Job Description:
The Indigenous Tax and Estate Planning Advisor provides guidance on Indigenous taxation and estate planning. The role involves researching taxation issues, advising the Council of Chiefs, assisting community members with tax-related matters, and supporting estate planning workshops.
The advisor will also work on designing an estate structure project and assist Kahnawa’kehró:non with estate planning, powers of attorney, and other related legal services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Taxation Advisory:
- Provide expertise to the Council of Chiefs on Indigenous taxation issues.
- Research and summarize taxation laws, agreements, and regulations affecting Kahnawà:ke and Indigenous communities.
- Collaborate with tax professionals to create public notices, reports, and recommendations.
- Community Tax Support:
- Assist community members in accessing tax exemptions and navigating tax-related forms and requirements.
- Develop and implement initiatives to assert taxation rights under federal legislation.
- Estate Planning:
- Advise clients on wills, powers of attorney, and estate documentation.
- Design an estate structure proposal for Council review.
- Facilitate estate planning workshops and provide client support.
Required experience and qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law, with three (3) years of relevant experience in Indigenous taxation or related fields.
- Certificate in Financial Planning (asset).
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous taxation and estate planning practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and provide expert guidance.
- Familiarity with Kanien’kéha or French is an asset.
Working Environment:
- Office-based, five-day work week.
- Moderate overtime and travel may be required.
- Ability to manage deadlines and workload-related stress.
