Job description

The Health Services Manager plans and manages sectoral activities to meet the needs and expectations of First Nations communities and organizations, while respecting allocated budgets. They are responsible for developing and implementing health and wellness strategies (public and community health, prevention, access to services, advocacy, etc.) and contributing to skills development at the local level.

More specifically, the incumbent must:
• Contribute to the achievement of strategic planning objectives, establish the annual health sector plan and ensure its implementation, while maintaining coordination with the other sectors as well as external partners and collaborators.
• Manage the team, contribute to skills development and foster a work environment focused on mutual support, respect and collaboration.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with government bodies and other organizations regarding health services, the negotiation of collaboration agreements, and the implementation of new initiatives.
• Analyze, comment on, and draft strategic documents and reports.
• Analyze the health needs, issues, and priority interests of First Nations, make recommendations, and support the defence of their interests among the relevant authorities by acting as a key player in the development of agreements and projects.
• Support the decisions of governing bodies by acting as an agent of positive change and advising senior management on political and administrative issues in their sector.
• Ensure strategic monitoring of health services, issue recommendations, and develop a strategic vision for the sector.
• Represent the organization in the context of local, regional and national committees, meetings, and events, and collaborate on the organization of events with internal sectors, partners, and First Nations organizations.

Required experience and qualifications

• Be a First Nations person or Inuit.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in administration, health sciences, public health, or another relevant field.
• Have five to seven years of experience in the health field and in management.
• Have in-depth knowledge of the Quebec health and social services network, as well as Quebec and federal health policies and programs.
• Be familiar with the Act respecting health services and social services and the Canada Health Act.
• Have knowledge and understanding of First Nations cultures.
• Speak and write in French and English at an advanced level.
• Be willing to travel.
• Have a valid driver’s licence.

Salary
The gross annual salary ranges from $95,204.20 to $117,280.80 and varies according to the candidate’s experience.
