🚀 Position Overview

As Senior Manager, Shared Services (Hybrid Team), you will be the driving force behind the client’s loan journey—offering a seamless experience throughout the underwriting process. Acting as a single point of contact for all financing needs, you’ll deliver timely, high-quality, and comprehensive proposals while ensuring strict adherence to risk and credit policy guidelines.

This is a cross-functional, interdisciplinary leadership role that empowers you to enhance the client experience by streamlining internal processes, reducing funding delays, and maximizing impact. You’ll bring your technical expertise and strategic thinking to support business development, while mentoring and guiding internal teams across Canada.

🏆 Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the central point of contact between Financing and Credit Risk teams, aligning solutions and accelerating loan processing.

  • Take full ownership of Underwriting and Portfolio Management aspects in the loan lifecycle, providing strategic input and recommendations.

  • Underwrite medium to high complexity loan proposals, applying detailed due diligence and in-depth financial analysis.

  • Structure proposals with optimal terms, conditions, pricing, and covenants in line with BDC standards.

  • Address compliance issues or changes during deal negotiation and structure resolution-oriented solutions.

  • Promote innovative, win-win solutions that serve both BDC and client interests.

  • Collaborate closely with Business Centre staff, internal partners, and Shared Services peers to drive teamwork and consistent execution.

  • Stay current on policy updates, industry trends, and regulatory developments in credit and risk.

  • Coach and mentor new and existing employees across teams to ensure knowledge transfer and continuous improvement.

  • Manage multiple concurrent loan files and administrative requests with efficiency and attention to detail.

  • Adapt quickly to changing workloads and priorities across Underwriting and Portfolio Management.

Required experience and qualifications

🎯 Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or Accounting

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • Proven experience in loan underwriting and financial deal structuring

  • Excellent understanding of credit risk, lending policies, and decision-making frameworks

  • Strong knowledge of banking products, procedures, and compliance standards

  • Ability to simultaneously manage new loan originations and amendments to existing financing

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills

  • Excellent time management, with the ability to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated business acumen and client-centric mindset

  • Agile team player with a deep understanding of the SME and entrepreneurial ecosystem

  • Flexible and resilient in the face of evolving priorities and operational changes
