Policy Analyst-Advisor
Job description
*35 hours per week (50% at the office and 50% teleworking)
The Policy Analyst-Advisor must:
Analyze and interpret various government policies and legislation and assess their political, legal and administrative impact on organizational mandates and priorities. The incumbent will play an advisory role in defending the interests of First Nations along with senior management, managers and teams.
• Analyze government policies, laws, regulations and administrative documents to identify issues and their impact, then make recommendations.
• Conduct research and analyses to support the development and implementation of strategies and solutions.
• Actively participate in improving access to public services for First Nations and collaborate with various advocacy organizations (Protecteur du citoyen, Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse, Complaints Commissioner, etc.).
• Play an advisory role for senior management and the various sectors regarding the interpretation and application of policies, laws, regulations and administrative documents.
• Collaborate in the development of organizational strategies and positions with a view to defending the interests of First Nations.
• Monitor trends, results, good practices and strategies and keep track of them.
• Participate in the drafting of various documents (briefs, analyses, memoranda, reports, etc.).
Required experience and qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in political science, law, public administration or another related field.
• Five to seven years of relevant experience.
• In-depth knowledge of Canadian, Quebec, First Nations and Inuit political and legal systems; knowledge of government networks and health and social services systems is considered an asset.
• Knowledge and understanding of First Nations cultures.
• Knowledge of Microsoft 365.
• Advanced level of French and English, both written and spoken.
• Willing to travel throughout Quebec to First Nations communities.
• A valid driver’s licence.

Salary
The gross annual salary is between $66,138.80 and $81,499.60 and varies according to the candidate’s experience.
