💼 Division: Office of the Council of Chiefs
💰 Salary: $1,267.13 to $1,431.38 per week

Be a Key Driver in Nation-to-Nation Relations & Governance Development

Are you passionate about Indigenous self-governance and political negotiation? The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is seeking a dynamic Project Leader to oversee, coordinate, and implement high-impact initiatives under the Office of the Council of Chiefs (OCC). This is your opportunity to shape meaningful agreements, governance frameworks, and partnerships that strengthen Kahnawà:ke’s autonomy and future.

Main Responsibilities

Project Leader – Negotiations

  • Lead the implementation of political projects and agreements with external governments and agencies.

  • Coordinate joint work plans and negotiations with other governments and First Nations.

  • Manage project teams and ensure timelines and deliverables are met.

  • Conduct political analysis, stakeholder consultation, and research coordination.

  • Draft reports, strategic plans, and communication tools for Chief and Council.

Project Leader – Governance

  • Design and implement governance structures and frameworks for the community.

  • Identify capacity-building opportunities to support long-term nation-building.

  • Provide political insight and direction to project teams.

  • Ensure follow-up technical work and research are well coordinated and actionable.

Project Collaboration

  • Collaborate on related OCC projects as assigned.

  • Provide regular updates and seek guidance from the Chief Political Advisor.

  • Support ongoing strategic initiatives that align with Council priorities.
