Job description
The Electro-Mechanical Technician will work under the supervision of our Electrician Supervisor and in collaboration with our various trades. Our home base is located at 280 Rue Saint-Dominique in Quebec City, and work is carried out at our various locations in Old Quebec, the lower town and Lévis (vehicle provided). The main responsibilities are to develop and implement a regular and preventive maintenance/repair program to keep all buildings, service buildings, generator stations, pumping stations, fire pump stations, water and sewer systems and other fixed or mobile equipment in good working order in order to ensure the resilience of systems, minimize repair costs and respect the safety and quality of services offered to visitors and employees. The technician will be called upon to prepare work plans, to carry out and document the work, and to provide technical advice to the team.

Workplace
The Parks Canada Agency is a federal agency responsible for protecting and presenting Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of the country. The Quebec City team watches over the historic treasures of the Fortifications of Québec, the Dufferin Terrace and the archaeological crypt of the Saint-Louis Forts and Châteaux, Cartier-Brébeuf, the Lévis Forts, and Grosse Île.

Type of job: Full time
Work schedule: 40 h per week, daytime schedule Monday to Friday
Duration of employment: Fixed-term contract (12 months), with possibility of extension or permanent appointment
Hourly wage: $34.22 to $37.20 + bilingualism bonus

Required experience and qualifications

Language requirements
• Bilingual imperative (reading) (B – – / B – -)

Education
DVS in Automated Systems Electromechanics or DVS in Stationary Engine Mechanics or DVS in Industrial Construction and Maintenance Mechanics

Work experience
• Three years of recent and significant experience in electromechanical work

(Recent experience means that the candidate’s most recent experience was in the past two years. Significant experience means that the candidate has had direct involvement and responsibility in the execution of the work.)

Knowledge
• Installation and maintenance standards and procedures for building components, machinery and generators (ventilation, heating, humidification, cooling, lighting equipment, etc.).

Conditions of employment
• Obtain and maintain reliability status.
• Possess a valid class 5 driver’s licence.
• Have good visual and hearing acuity.
• Agree to wear uniform and protective equipment.
• Be able to lift and carry a 50-pound load over short distances.
• Be able to perform work requiring sustained effort, such as walking, standing, kneeling, climbing and working in uncomfortable positions, particularly in sometimes unfavourable environments and weather conditions, at heights, in cramped spaces or near water.
• Accept to work overtime during the week, weekends and holidays when required and to respond to operational needs or emergencies outside of regular working hours.
• Accept to travel and work at all sites under the authority of the Québec Field Unit.
• Pass a pre-employment medical examination and periodic medical check-ups in accordance with Parks Canada’s Occupational Health Monitoring Program.
