📌 Title: Educational Consultant – Translator/Interpreter Training Program

📍 Location: Montreal or Nunavik

🎯 Description:

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is seeking a passionate and experienced Educational Consultant to develop, deliver, and support a training program for translators and interpreters. This key position is ideal for a candidate with strong cultural ties to the Inuit community and proven experience in translation or interpretation. Fluency in Inuktitut and English is essential.

✅ Responsibilities:

• Design a customized training program tailored to the needs of Nunavik.

• Teach selected courses in Inuktitut and English.

• Promote the profession and recruit future students.

• Establish a network of resource people (consultants and instructors).

• Create and maintain a resource center for trainees and instructors.

• Develop course content based on existing models, in collaboration with selected experts.

• Select participants using adapted pedagogical tools.

• Organize and supervise ongoing training sessions in an alternating work-study format.

💰 Salary: From $49,456 to $92,027 per year, based on qualifications and experience.

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (education, translation, interpretation, or adult education).

• Excellent spoken and written Inuktitut skills.

• Good spoken and written English skills.

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a translator/interpreter in Nunavik.

• The School Board may waive standard qualifications for beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) who are willing to follow a training program set by the board.
