Job Description
Reporting to the Assistant Director of Second Language Program Development, the Educational Consultant will support elementary-level French teachers—particularly in math and science—in implementing, developing, and evaluating curriculum, classroom management strategies, and culturally relevant learning materials.
Key Responsibilities
Provide pedagogical support to elementary math and science teachers in Nunavik’s French sector.
Promote KI’s competency-based learning and assessment approach among school administrators, teachers, and other staff members.
Facilitate professional learning communities, training sessions, and workshops (in person or virtually using Teams, Zoom, etc.).
Develop learning and evaluation situations (LES) and other teaching materials adapted to second-language learners at the elementary level.
Collaborate on reviewing and developing culturally relevant programs aligned with Inuit language and values.
Work with various departments and cultural groups to develop teaching resources.
Oversee inventory management for printed materials and school supplies related to math and science.
Support special projects in these subject areas using creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
Required experience and qualifications
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Education).
Certification: Legally qualified to teach in the province of Québec.
Experience: Teaching experience (experience in Nunavik is considered an asset).
Languages: Proficiency in French and working knowledge of English.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of elementary-level math and science concepts
Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (including Teams and other educational tech tools)
Availability for frequent travel to Nunavik communities
Knowledge of Inuktitut is an asset
Note: The School Board may waive qualification requirements for beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (JBNQA), provided they agree to complete a training program determined by the Board.
Employment Conditions & Benefits
This position is classified under job category 2104, in accordance with the SPPENOM collective agreement for professionals.
Annual Salary: $49,456 to $92,027, depending on experience and qualifications.
