FNQLSDI activities are mainly in French
Your mandate
* Your mandate is to support First Nations communities in the design and implementation of climate change projects initiated by them. More specifically, these projects focus on adaptation planning and climate risk assessment.
* You will also collaborate in the coordination of funding approval committees and ensure administrative follow-up of projects.
** These projects are funded by the Quebec government as part of the Plan for a Green Economy 2030 (PEV 2030).
Main responsibilities
* Analyze First Nations needs and identify key project characteristics, focusing on communities’ needs and anticipating potential risks and problems
* Play an active role in the drafting process for project proposals and funding applications, ensuring that they meet specific goals and stakeholder expectations
* See projects through to completion, creating tools and holding meetings/events as needed along the way to keep things moving in the right direction
* Create detailed project calendars and keep projects on schedule by optimizing the use of available resources and controlling costs at all stages
* Provide regular updates on project progress and achievements and conduct effective follow‑ups post‑completion
* Make sure work is well done at all times and ensure the satisfaction of First Nations communities involved
* Handle information monitoring for the duration of each project
Required experience and qualifications
Do you have what it takes?
* Experience and/or undergraduate degree in environmental sciences or related field
* 3-5 years’ relevant project management experience in the field of climate change adaptation
* Knowledge of climate data portals and risk assessment
* Available to travel occasionally within Quebec, including to First Nations communities
* Excellent spoken and written communication skills in French and English
* Knowledge of an Indigenous language (an asset)
* Experience working with First Nations or an Indigenous organization (a major asset)
