EXPIRÉ : Waste Management Project Officer – EcoNation Program
Job description
Your mandate
* Ensure the implementation of the EcoNation program related to waste management and act as a resource person with the participating First Nations communities.
* Accompany a dozen communities in hiring and supervising an environmental awareness team.
Your main responsibilities
* Manage all the annual planning and follow-up stages of the EcoNation program, more specifically the call for participation, community adherence, training offered to awareness workers, monetary disbursements, reports, etc.
* Supervise the eco-patrol teams by ensuring regular follow-up (tasks, available tools, adequate supervision, etc.)
* Assist the eco-patrollers in the creation of awareness material (social networks, video, articles, images, etc.) in order to raise awareness of the members on several themes (composting, recycling, household hazardous waste, ecocenter, etc.);
* Develop specific material for the project (job offers, awareness tools template, development of fun and adapted activities, etc.)
* Write documents, tools and reports related to the project
* Ensure the follow-up of expenses and the allocated budget
* Assume various ad hoc or special mandates related to the projects
Required experience and qualifications
Do you have the profile?
* Undergraduate university degree or a combination of training and experience in one of the following fields: environmental sciences, communication, psycho-education, sociology, community development or another field related to sustainable development
* Ability to manage a project while complying with deadlines and a budget
* Ease with facilitation or training, ideally relating to the environment or waste management and ability to communicate, popularize and adapt to different audiences and cultures (young people, managers, in groups, etc.)
* Excellent communication skills in French and English, both written and spoken
* Knowledge of an Indigenous language (is considered an asset)
* Knowledge of and/or experience working with First Nations (is considered a major asset)
