Work Schedule: 40 h per week, daytime schedule (4-day compressed schedule)
Duration of employment: Fixed-term contract (6 months), May 2025 to December 2025
Hourly wage: $35.18 to $38.24 + an isolated shift premium of 2,03 $ / hour.

Tasks
• The Carpenter will work as part of the Asset Management team at Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site. He or she will carry out design, creation, and renovation work on buildings or historical structures of heritage value, particularly in carpentry, joinery, and cabinetmaking. He or she will be supported on-site by an experienced historical restoration craftsperson.

Required experience and qualifications

Language Requirements
• French essential

Education
• Vocational diploma or college diploma in carpentry
Or
• An acceptable combination of high school education and relevant experience in the fields mentioned in the “Work experience” section, totaling at least five years.

Asset education
• College diploma in Built Heritage Crafts
• Diploma in cabinetmaking

Professional certification
• Competency certificate in carpentry and joinery issued by the Commission de la construction du Québec (CCQ)

Work experience
• Three years of recent* and significant experience in the execution of specialized carpentry or cabinetmaking work, particularly in the design, creation, and renovation of buildings or structures

*Recent experience means that the candidate’s most recent experience was in the past two years. Significant experience means that the candidate has had direct involvement and responsibility in the execution of the work.
