Job description
Nunavimmi Ilagiit Papatauvinga is an Inuit-led organization that will develop a continuum of youth and family services based on Inuit knowledge and culture and ways. Currently under the umbrella of the Nunavik Board of Health and Social Services, NIP is set to become independent in the coming months.
DESCRIPTION
The AK Worker is responsible for supporting foster families, for ensuring the well-being of foster children and for acting as a liaison between all parties involved.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide direct support services to foster families to promote safety, stability and well-being for children in foster care;
• Facilitate training sessions for foster parents;
• Assist the foster parents with parenting strategies to address the specific needs of the foster children;
• Provide crisis intervention support to foster families as needed;
• Conduct home visits to monitor the living conditions and ensure that the children’s needs are being met;
• Prepare reports, maintain case records to document the progress of the children;
• Ensure that individualized plans for foster children are followed;
• Collaborate with other professionals involved in the children’s cases.
Required experience and qualifications

• Good conflict resolution skills;
• Openness to learning;
• Speaking and writing skills in Inuktitut and English.
Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Permanent full-time position (35 hours/week);
• Based in Nunavik or Telework with frequent travel within Nunavik territory;
• Salary to be determined.
Northern benefits: retention bonus ($6,000/year), remoteness bonus ($10,627/year), cost-of-living bonus ($3,870/year) and if hired more than 50 km from Kuujjuaq, low-cost housing provided, moving and storage expenses reimbursed, personal annual outings from Kuujjuaq to point of hire, etc.
