Job description

Description: The Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for managing internal communications on behalf of the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK), the Executive Office, and the Organizational Development Unit. This position plays a key role in aligning communication strategies with MCK’s goals and values.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an annual communications plan aligned with the Executive Office and MCK’s internal communications strategy.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Office to ensure technical and advisory support for all communication needs.
  • Prepare and deliver internal communications for the Executive Team, including reports, speaking notes, and memos.
  • Create and maintain communication tools and strategies consistent with MCK’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Support the development of organization-wide communication strategies in alignment with the MCK Strategic Plan.
  • Assist with public relations functions, including preparing internal communications for various units and stakeholders.
  • Ensure internal communications are clear, direct, accessible, and timely.
  • Manage internal communications databases and reporting metrics.
  • Translate communication materials into Kanien’kéha and French as needed.

Required experience and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, or related discipline, with one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Alternatively, a DEC in Public Relations or Communications with three (3) years of relevant experience, or a High School Diploma with five (5) years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of internal communication strategies and engagement.
  • Knowledge of Office 365, Monday.com, and graphic design software.
  • Experience with strategic planning, project management, and organizational development.
  • Ability to communicate in Kanien’kéha and French is an asset.

Salary: $1,232.25 to $1,392.00 per week (based on experience)

Work Hours:

  • 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • 37.5 hours per week
