With the Workforce Profile (WFP) <\/strong>and LMI (Labour Market Information) <\/strong>project, the Commission<\/a> aims to compile accurate and up-to-date data on the First Nations and Inuit labour market to identify and better understand their challenges<\/strong> and employment opportunities<\/a>.

The information obtained on skills<\/strong>, jobs<\/strong>, and training<\/strong> needs will enable us to develop inclusive and adapted employment<\/a> strategies.  <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Mission<\/o-anim-typing><\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In addition to profiling each community\u2019s<\/a> labour market, we encourage communities to take ownership of their data to guide decision-making on employment development, vocational training, and economic strategies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also commit to using their data ethically and efficiently.
This commitment, the cornerstone of our project, provides us with a solid foundation for achieving our objectives regarding FN workforce development strategy<\/a>, data governance and digital sovereignty.

To ensure transparency, we have adopted a collaborative approach that involves communities<\/a> directly in the survey and analysis phases. This approach helps make our strategies relevant and our traditions and values respected. By listening to you and considering your views every step of the way, we can identify and propose customized solutions that will foster economic autonomy and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our approach is based on the \u201cFirst Nations Principle of Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP), which asserts that First Nations have control over data collection processes and ownership of information. Here are the steps we have taken to ensure these principles are followed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the project\u2019s outset, we met with communities to obtain their consent and active participation. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

Community members had a say in the questions\u2019 design to ensure they reflected their concerns, needs, and perspectives <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

We ensure that communities have equal access to the data we collect by transparently sharing results and opportunities for ongoing feedback <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

We involve communities in overseeing and managing the data throughout the process, giving them control over the use of the information <\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n\n\n\n

5. Recognition and value<\/strong><\/div><\/summary>

We value communities\u2019 contributions throughout the survey process, highlighting their expertise and involving them in decision-making.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

We aim to improve our community members\u2019 access to skilled, sustainable jobs. To achieve this, we have implemented initiatives to help them secure employment and develop professionally. We also work with local employers to identify job opportunities and skills requirements and to ensure a better match between labour market supply and demand. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Data Sovereignty<\/strong>\u00a0<\/div>

Promote data ownership by and for communities so they have control over the information concerning them. Each nation will have access to the results of studies conducted in its community and can decide whether to authorize or not access. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n
