🎯 Overview:
The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is seeking a Victims Advocacy Worker for a 12-month full-time contract. This key role is responsible for developing and promoting educational initiatives, while advocating for the rights and well-being of victims within and outside the Kahnawà:ke community.
✅ Responsibilities:
Develop, promote, and deliver educational programs (workshops, presentations, awareness materials).
Advocate for victims’ rights and promote Ionkwatahónhsate Victims Services locally and externally.
Provide technical assistance, referrals, court preparation, and accompaniment as needed.
Research and prepare policies, procedures, manuals, and funding proposals.
Serve as a technical resource for the Kahnawà:ke Justice Commission.
💰 Salary: $58,227.00 to $65,773.50 per year
📅 Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (37.5 hours/week)
Required experience and qualifications
⭐ Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Social Science, or related field with 1 year of relevant experience,
OR DEC in a related field with 3 years of relevant experience.Knowledge of victim rights, remedies, and court procedures.
Strong communication, research, and project management skills.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and empathy.
Knowledge of Kanien’kéha and/or French is an asset.
