🎯 Description:

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke is seeking a full-time, permanent Special Projects Coordinator to support the Public Safety Commission. This role involves coordinating strategic projects related to public safety, emergency preparedness, and community policing services. You will act as a liaison between stakeholders, manage project operations, and ensure alignment with community priorities and strategic direction.

✅ Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate project plans in collaboration with internal units, external governments, and other First Nations.

  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources efficiently.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project files; produce and present status reports.

  • Conduct research and ensure timely follow-ups on assigned projects.

  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives in coordination with the Emergency Management Officer.

  • Assist in setting up the Emergency Operations Center when required.

  • Coordinate activities of the Peacekeeper Service Board and Peacekeeper Ethics Committee.

  • Promote projects and gather community input via media, open houses, kiosks, interviews, and surveys.

  • Facilitate and participate in meetings, briefings, workshops, and other events.

  • Act as a liaison between community members, consultants, technicians, MCK departments, and media.

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience
    OR

  • High School diploma with 10 years of related work experience.

  • Must possess a valid Quebec Class 5 driver’s license.

  • Strong knowledge of emergency preparedness principles, public safety procedures, and applicable laws/guidelines.

  • Demonstrated skills in project management, facilitation, public speaking, negotiation, research, technical writing, and coordination.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Project); willing to learn new software.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Knowledge of Kanien’kéha and/or French is an asset; willingness to learn the Kanien’kéha language is encouraged.

  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises sound judgment and professionalism.

💰 Salary: $1,099.88 to $1,242.38 per week (commensurate with experience)

🕒 Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

  • 37.5 hours per week

  • Occasional evening, weekend work, and overtime, especially during emergencies
