Job description

🎯 Description:

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is seeking qualified special education technicians to support students with special needs in various schools across Nunavik. Join a compassionate, multidisciplinary team in a culturally rich and meaningful educational environment.

✅ Responsibilities:

  • Support the integration of students into regular classrooms and adapt learning activities accordingly

  • Work individually with students and plan activities that promote their development

  • Collaborate closely with teachers, special education advisors, and psychosocial staff

  • Participate in student progress evaluations and EHDAA committees

  • Assist in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

  • Provide support to local special education technicians

  • Train and guide less experienced technicians or support staff when needed

  • Assist students with physical needs (dressing, eating, school transportation, etc.)

💰 Salary:

$24.78 to $35.67/hour, depending on experience and in accordance with the AENQ support staff collective agreement

🕒 Work Schedule:

  • Full-time, 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday

  • Status: Seasonal

  • Start Date: August 2025

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Qualifications:

  • College diploma in Special Education

  • Experience working with children with special needs

  • Proficiency in two of the three official languages of the school board (Inuktitut, English, French)

  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills

  • Adaptability to diverse situations

  • Experience in Nunavik is considered an asset

Note: The school board may waive certain qualifications for beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) who agree to follow a training program established by the board.
