Economic Development and Enterprise Department
Location: Kanesatake, Quebec
Description:
Under the authority of the Mohawk Council of Kanesatake and in collaboration with the economic development and enterprise department of Kanesatake, the Social Economy Development Officer supports the economic development manager in promoting and fostering the growth of social entrepreneurial development. This role involves managing projects aimed at fostering the social and economic development of the community and individuals, with a focus on long-term community-driven and sustainable initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the manager in promoting and implementing social economic development projects at the local level.
- Engage stakeholders and assist in designing community-driven and entrepreneurial projects.
- Facilitate the implementation of projects that strengthen the social and economic development of individuals and the community.
- Assist in managing large-scale or small-scale projects and support their growth.
- Provide support to individuals in designing and launching social impact projects.
- Coordinate and monitor projects to ensure their success.
- Promote the principles and values of the social economy to local stakeholders.
Required experience and qualifications
Qualifications:
- Education: Postsecondary diploma in administration, economics, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in starting up social economic organizations and businesses. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the principles of social economy (person-centered, collective responsibility, democracy, etc.).
- Knowledge of legal statuses of social economic organizations (NPOs) is an asset.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and French (Kanien’kéha is an asset).
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel.
Salary:
Based on project funding.
