Probation Period: 3 months
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week (evenings and weekends based on minor sports schedule)
Salary: $700.13 to $790.50 per week
Work Location: Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex

Job Description

Are you looking to work in a vibrant and community-focused environment? Join the Sports and Recreation Unit as a Snack Bar Worker and contribute to the positive experience of visitors at the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex. Your main tasks will include food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and safe work area.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Cash Handling:

  • Open and close the cash register following set policies and procedures.

  • Take customer orders and input them using the Rec Trac point-of-sale system.

  • Accept payments, give correct change, and communicate clearly with customers.

  • Report any cash discrepancies to the supervisor.

Food Preparation:

  • Use grill, microwave, stove, fryer, and steamer to prepare meals.

  • Prepare sandwiches and other food items as needed.

  • Follow strict hygiene and food safety standards.

General Kitchen Duties:

  • Refill drink stations, coffee pots, and slush machines.

  • Clean cooking equipment and kitchen surfaces.

  • Wash dishes, sweep, mop, and ensure cleanliness at all times.

  • Prepare the work area for the next shift.

Required experience and qualifications

Job Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma (DES) required.

  • Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience in food service or hospitality.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen protocols.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Basic math skills and ability to multitask efficiently.

  • Willingness to train on the Rec Trac system.

  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Respect MCK policies and Kanien’kéha language initiatives.

Assets:

  • Ability to speak Kanien’kéha and/or French is an asset.

  • Willingness to learn Kanien’kéha is required.

Working Conditions

  • Indoor work environment with flexible scheduling.

  • Required to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overtime.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (10–20 lbs).

  • Regular interaction with hot kitchen equipment.
