Kativik Ilisarniliriniq is the school board serving the 14 communities of Nunavik in Northern Quebec.
We are seeking dedicated and dynamic School Principals to join our candidate bank and contribute to the success and well-being of Inuit students. This is a unique opportunity to work in a multicultural environment and take part in shaping the future of education in Northern communities.
✅ Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Director of School Operations, the School Principal is responsible for:
Managing all educational programs and teaching resources in a primary or secondary school;
Providing leadership in all pedagogical and administrative matters;
Supporting and guiding teachers in implementing educational programs;
Promoting a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for students;
Collaborating with parents, staff, and community members to foster student success;
Ensuring that school operations comply with board policies and provincial standards.
💰 Salary:
Class 00-10: $112,582 to $150,104
Class 00-11: $119,091 to $158,784
(based on school size, qualifications, and experience)

Required experience and qualifications
⭐ Qualifications:
Teaching license from the Ministry of Education (MEESR) or an equivalent from another Canadian province,
or authorization to teach under the Education Act for Cree, Inuit and Naskapi Native Persons (L.R.Q., c. I-14);Bachelor’s degree in Education or in a relevant field (minimum three years of university studies);
Or experience as a Vice-Principal or in an equivalent managerial position within a school board;
The School Board may, at its discretion, consider candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) and willing to complete a designated training program.
🧭 Requirements:
Proficiency in at least two (2) of the three working languages of the School Board (Inuktitut, French, English);
Eight (8) years of relevant experience;
Knowledge of Nunavik communities and cultural contexts;
Experience in school administration within a multicultural environment (an asset).
