Economic Development and Enterprise Department

Location: Kanesatake, Quebec

Description:
Under the authority of the Kanesatake Band Council and in collaboration with the Economic Development and Enterprise Department of Kanesatake, the Project Manager for Eco-Agriculture Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and launching an agricultural sector as part of a series of projects aimed at improving the overall development prospects of the community. The goal is to establish an economic activity structure focused on food security and the economic and social prosperity of the Kanien’kehà community. In addition to serving the community, the agricultural activities will provide supply links for local restaurants and public institutions such as schools.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and oversee the launch of the eco-agriculture sector.
  • Develop a sustainable agricultural sector contributing to food security.
  • Establish connections with local restaurants and public institutions (such as schools) to supply agricultural products.
  • Coordinate various agricultural projects that enhance the community’s development.
  • Foster relationships with stakeholders to ensure the success of the eco-agriculture initiative.

Required experience and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with 3 years of experience in business or business management. A combination of relevant education and experience will also be considered.
  • Experience: Experience working on a farm or in a similar field will be considered an asset.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of the challenges and issues in the agricultural sector, particularly in market gardening.
    • Strong understanding of general agricultural challenges and issues.
    • Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
    • Responsible, autonomous, dynamic, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Flexibility and adaptability to new and unpredictable situations.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and French (Kanien’kéha is an asset).
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.

Salary:
Based on project funding.

Probation Period:
The selected candidate will be subject to a probation period of six (6) months. After this period, a performance evaluation will be conducted, and if successful, employment confirmation will be issued.
