Job description

Unit: Information Management Unit (IMU)
Employer: Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke
Location: Kahnawà:ke Mohawk Territory, QC
Duration: Fixed-Term, Full-time (June 23 – August 15, 2025)
Salary: $16.10 per hour (KSSEP RATE – High School Level B)
Hours of Operation: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 30 hours per week
Deadline for Application: June 1, 2025, 4:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Management: Identify, sort, organize, and manage spatial and attribute GIS data to ensure accuracy and accessibility.

  • Fieldwork: After basic training, assist in fieldwork by collecting GIS data within the community.

  • Support Tasks: Assist the GIS Manager in daily tasks related to GIS operations and data management.

Required experience and qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be registered with Tewatohnhi’saktha’s KSSEP Program 2025.

  • Must be a student in High School, CEGEP, or University, continuing in the fall semester.

Skills & Abilities:

  • No prior GIS knowledge required, as the student will receive training and supervision.

  • Ability to adhere to MCK Administration Manual-Personnel Policy and Kanien’kéha Language initiatives.

  • Ability to communicate in Kanien’ké:ha and French is an asset, but not mandatory.

  • Willingness to learn the Kanien’ké:ha language.

Working Environment:

  • Five-day work week split between office and outdoor environments.

  • Fieldwork includes walking in the community to collect data from the urban landscape.

  • Moderate physical activity required for outdoor data collection.
