Job description
Status: Indeterminate, Full-Time (9-month probation)
Salary: $1,000.50 to $1,125.75 per week
Hours: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

🎯 Job Purpose
As an Employability Development Case Officer, you will play a critical role in assisting and supporting clients in their journey toward employment, education, and personal development. You’ll provide client-centered services, assess eligibility, coordinate support plans, and collaborate with agencies to promote self-sufficiency for individuals and families receiving social assistance.
✅ Key Responsibilities
Client Services
Assess client needs and develop support plans.
Guide clients through program eligibility and application processes.
Refer clients to appropriate agencies and resources.
Monitor progress toward employment or education goals.
Track and evaluate client benefit status.
Compliance & Program Delivery
Conduct re-evaluations and verify eligibility for benefits.
Ensure accuracy of benefit payments and process cheques.
Investigate non-compliance, issue decisions, and manage appeals.
Maintain up-to-date digital and physical records.
Compile reports and ensure funding availability.
Program Coordination
Liaise with employers to promote employment programs.
Oversee client participation in employment initiatives.
Assist with the development of new projects and funding proposals.
Advocacy & Community Collaboration
Coordinate with community and external partners (e.g., education, housing, legal).
Identify clients needing enhanced support or trusteeship.
Deliver workshops and participation incentives.
💼 Working Environment
Primarily office-based, with occasional external visits
Moderate to high stress due to workload and emotionally sensitive cases
May require overtime for departmental needs
Required experience and qualifications
📘 Requirements
Education & Experience (One of the following):
DEC in Social Sciences, Social Work, or related field + 1 year experience
DEP in Secretarial Sciences + 3 years of experience
High School Diploma + 5 years of relevant experience
Additional Qualifications:
Valid Quebec driver’s license
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience with client databases and administrative systems
Knowledge of community resources and social assistance policies (asset)
Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under stress
Knowledge of Kanien’kéha or French is an asset
Willingness to learn Kanien’kéha
