Director, Creating, Knowing and Sharing (CKS): The Arts and Cultures of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples

Location: Hybrid model with a minimum onsite requirement in Ottawa of three (3) days per week, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays

Description:
The Director of the Creating, Knowing and Sharing (CKS) Program is responsible for leading initiatives that support First Nations, Inuit, and Métis artists, communities, and arts organizations. This role involves strategic leadership, collaboration, and program management to foster Indigenous arts and cultures across Canada.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership in the development and delivery of the CKS program.
  • Offer expert analysis and advice on sensitive issues and identify strategies and solutions.
  • Collaborate with Program Directors to ensure cohesive policies and processes for arts funding.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance Indigenous representation and participation.
  • Represent the Council in interactions with Indigenous artists, communities, and organizations.
  • Ensure the integrity, transparency, and effectiveness of assessment and allocation processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement of the program’s planning frameworks and mechanisms.
  • Collaborate on strategies related to Indigenous arts with other divisions.
  • Advise senior executives on emerging issues, risks, and recommend solutions.

Required experience and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in arts management, administration, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible arts granting management experience.
  • Five (5) years in a management position.
  • Experience in engaging the arts sector, fostering partnerships, and developing networks.

Salary: $134,827 – $158,601
