Job description

🎯 Description:

The Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) is seeking a dedicated Custodian for a full-time, fixed-term position within the Asset Management Division. This role plays a vital part in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and operation of the Kahnawà:ke Sports Complex and other community facilities.

✅ Responsibilities:

  • Perform janitorial duties across all Sports Complex areas, including spectator zones, locker rooms, offices, snack bar, and restrooms.

  • Collect and dispose of garbage daily.

  • Clean and maintain restrooms, including replenishing supplies and unclogging drains.

  • Wash and maintain glass surfaces and windows throughout the facility.

  • Sweep, mop, vacuum floors, and clean seating areas.

  • Assist with grounds maintenance such as grass cutting and trimming.

  • Handle minor building repairs (drywall, lighting, window cleaning, etc.).

  • Address basic emergency repairs and ensure cleaning supplies are stocked.

  • Monitor and enforce safety regulations and building security protocols.

  • Respond to injuries or incidents and contact emergency services as needed.

  • Lock up and shut down the building safely after shifts.

  • Report vandalism or damages to the supervisor.

  • Ensure all emergency exits are clear of snow, ice, and debris.

💰 Salary: $37,986 to $42,919.50 annually (based on experience)

🕒 Work Schedule: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

📅 Duration: Fixed-term contract until March 31, 2026 (6-month probationary period)

Required experience and qualifications

⭐ Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in maintenance or construction.

  • Basic First Aid certification.

  • Working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, heating, and other trades.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Good work ethic and ability to work independently.

  • Valid Quebec driver’s license.

  • Knowledge of Kanien’kéha and French is an asset.

  • Willingness to learn Kanien’kéha is required.
