🎯 Description

Kativik Ilisarniliriniq, a school board providing educational services to 14 communities in Nunavik, is seeking a Building Technician to support and manage its school and housing facilities. Join a dedicated organization committed to improving education and infrastructure in northern communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to ensure proper maintenance of schools and housing in Nunavik and Montreal

  • Assist with the setup and management of mechanical systems, air quality, and temperature control

  • Support maintenance coordinators in handling service requests related to heating, plumbing, and electrical systems

  • Develop preventive maintenance schedules, conduct product research, and prepare specifications

  • Help coordinate renovation projects (plans, specs, cost estimates, procurement)

  • Carry out administrative tasks for the Material Resources and Purchasing departments

  • Travel frequently to Nunavik communities

  • Create technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD

💰 Salary

$24.36 to $33.95/hour depending on qualifications and experience, as per the AENQ collective agreement. Full benefits based on workload.

Required experience and qualifications

Qualifications

  • College diploma in building mechanical systems or architectural technology, or recognized equivalent

  • Two (2) years of relevant experience

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (an asset)

  • Practical knowledge of at least two of the school board’s working languages (Inuktitut, French, English)

  • Priority may be given to beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement (JBNQA) willing to follow a training program
